MAGRATHEA Project

Welcome to the MAGRATHEA Project! Embark on an exciting adventure where you can design your very own planet, step by step, choosing everything from its realistic internal composition to a vast array of life forms! (We’re working hard to make this experience available to you soon!)

Thanks to this educational project, which includes playful presentations of scientific concepts interspersed with quizzes and workshops, I aim to teach children the basics of exoplanets, chemistry, and biology. We will explore the entire process, from the formation of exoplanets to the emergence and evolution of life. Children will design their own exoplanet, creating its internal composition, atmosphere, chemical makeup, and the types of life they wish to introduce.

The different workshops:

  • The first workshop aims to illustrate the diversity of exoplanets. Children will be able to construct the planets they want by assembling building blocks representing the different layers of the planets.
Atomic Model Set

  • In the second workshop, children will choose the atmospheric composition of their world by assembling atoms to form realistic molecules found in exoplanet atmospheres using a molecular model kit.

  • The third workshop is designed to help children understand the concept of energy in its various forms and the concept of life, focusing on how energy, water, and the molecules (created in the second workshop) come together to form life. Children will be able to choose the unicellular form of life they wish by selecting crochet plushies from various textures, colors, and shapes.

  • In this final workshop, children will evolve their chosen creatures according to Darwin's theory of evolution. They will explore a tree of possibilities for their creatures to evolve based on hypothetical characteristics that alien life forms could develop, depending on the type of planet and the available molecules—once again through the selection of creature plushies.

I am currently developing this educational project on my own. The workshop is designed for children aged 3 to 13, lasting about two hours and accommodating 1 to 30 participants. This project is available to schools or outreach spaces. If you are interested in helping me build this outreach project, please contact me! My contact details are available in the Contact section.

Card Game

I created a card game to illustrate the diversity of exoplanets and to educate players about some interesting target exoplanets. You can download it below.
